Selected Writings (Lebanon)

If the Lebanese people ever want life, they must emigrate immediately. Lebanon has no value when leaving it becomes the dream of all Lebanese.

---

In Lebanon, people sanctify the created more than the Creator, the attire of religious men more than the religion itself, and parties and clans more than the homeland.

---

In Lebanon, tyranny is built on five: placing the tail above the head, anesthetizing the present with the past, distributing fear along with despair, sanctifying idols by touch, and keeping the donkey on the throne.

---

To stop politicians in Lebanon from behaving as masters, we must stop behaving as slaves.

---

The people of Lebanon are the only backward nation in the world that dies while raising the images of their killers before elections.

---

A politician in Lebanon thinks of the next elections, whereas a patriot thinks of future generations.

---

The Lebanese people who elect the corrupt, the opportunists, and the needy… are not victims but partners in the crime. It is said: “As you are, so shall be your rulers.” Woe to a nation led by the corrupt and disgraced by the capable. The corruption network in Lebanon is bigger than the sewage network. Half of our society is asleep, drugged, mesmerized, and the other half awake but fleeing. We want to awaken the sleepers to stand on their feet and bring back the fleeing to stay… If we want to rebel against dictatorship and refuse submission to injustice, all we have to do is read, read, and read…

---

In Lebanon, there is a legislative authority that legislates corruption, an executive authority that implements corruption, a judicial authority that protects corruption, and a religious or spiritual authority that blesses corruption: Christianity says, “God bless you,” Islam says, “God grant you success.” The motto of Dar al-Fatwa: “My success is only through God.”

---

The continuation of injustice and corruption in Lebanon is linked to the continued postponement of the Day of Reckoning to the Day of Judgment.

---

One of the corrupt practices of the Lebanese is that no one demands the oppressor to return the right; instead, everyone gangs up on the oppressed to leave their right for dispute resolution.

---

It is strange that the Lebanese celebrate a ceasefire by firing guns in joy.

---

Cleaning corruption in Lebanon, like cleaning stairs, begins from the top down.

---

Democracy does not work in Lebanon because the majority of fools will determine Lebanon’s fate. Rule of the majority is rule of fools. The wise are the minority.

---

Foreign countries have no allies in Lebanon, only agents.

---

Leaders in Lebanon are like a stick: first they stabilize themselves, then they start turning around…

---

Officials in Lebanon study abroad, and if they get sick, they are treated at Lebanon’s expense. They travel for tourism and pleasure outside Lebanon, and the only thing they do inside Lebanon is steal from it.

---

When Lebanese gather, they form sects, parties, and laws… each one declares himself president, and without a single discussion session, alliances begin, then conflicts, hatred, sedition, takfir, arms import… and the battle starts.

---

Each sect in Lebanon must equip its animals: the lion for the Sunnis, the tiger for the Shiites, the leopard for the Christians, and the wolf for the Druze…

---

Lebanon: a homeland for the rich, religion for the fools, misery for the poor, positions for the despicable, prison for the innocent.

---

In Lebanon, people fear losing the chair and applaud those who sit on it.

---

In Lebanon, there are poor hospitals for treatment but luxurious churches and mosques to pray over the deceased.

---

Lebanon is a country overlooking the sea, with 17 parties and 19 sects… all claim to be right, but one day no one will have the right to a loaf of bread.

---

In Lebanon, when an ignorant person holds the pen, a criminal holds a gun, and a corrupt person holds power, the homeland turns into a forest of beasts unfit for human life.

---

Society in Lebanon does not care about the hungry unless they are voters, nor about the naked unless it is a woman.

---

We no longer want justice in our homeland Lebanon because it is impossible. We demand only a fair distribution of injustice.

---

If people in Lebanon are not aware and cultured before the revolution, they cannot blame anyone when their revolution is stolen.

If you want to sabotage any revolution, give it only a sectarian or religious dimension and it will end in nothing.

---

Lebanon is destroyed not by nuclear bombs but by training people to hate each other through religious and takfiri ideas. I do not seek a world where no one is killed, but a world where killing cannot be justified.

---

It is foolish to defend Lebanon if you do not own a home there and to sacrifice yourself so your children live homeless after you, claiming to be orphans and martyrs of the homeland. The homeland is where the means of life exist, not the causes of death.

---

Belonging to my homeland Lebanon is a lie invented by Lebanese politicians for us to die for them. I do not believe in dying for Lebanon. Lebanon never loses; we are the losers.

---

When we are tested by war, they call the poor to defend Lebanon; when the war ends, they call the officials to divide the spoils.

---

Fairuz sang for Beirut and they destroyed it, sang for Shadi and he was lost, then sang for the partridge and it became extinct. I wish she would sing for the rulers of Lebanon…

---

To all Lebanese, to all rulers and politicians, to those with sight and those without: be allies, not brokers. We have our principles; you should have yours. Be patriots, not sectarians. Apologize to those murdered treacherously and do not console the killer. Practice your patriotism, not your sectarianism. Listen to God’s word: “And establish weight with justice and do not defraud the balance.” Prove that you are patriotic Lebanese, but you preferred to be sectarian rather than national. Let those who have been deaf for years read and hear, and let their words be balanced as with gold. Do not be racist or sectarian, do not be brokers or traders. Do as you wish, be as you wish, say what comes to mind, raise the ceiling of threats and hostility. You will not be able to change reality, but know that matters are held by the wise, and as long as they are, no matter how much you try, you cannot drag us into your polluted swamps of interests and trades, nor take us where you want. Return to your Lebanese identity if you are Lebanese. Let us build a homeland, fix the system, and stand with the people—this is what works, because what we say is necessary and inevitable, it will happen no matter how stakeholders, brokers, and crisis traders try to obstruct it. Return to your roots before your DNA is examined; then every element will return to its origin.

Finally, in my homeland Lebanon, everything does not resemble what it should be.

---

In Lebanon and the Arab world, insurance for humans is optional, but car insurance is mandatory. In Lebanon, a private hospital is where citizens lose their money; a public hospital is where citizens lose their lives. Advanced countries put citizens above everything; in Lebanon, the state puts the citizen in its head. Every official who assumes office in Lebanon swears to oversee the people’s comfort without specifying where or until what hour.

---

A traitor to his homeland is like a thief stealing from his father to feed other thieves; neither his father forgives him nor the thieves thank him.
