Truth, Humanity, and Difference

Truth has always been the most elusive quest of humankind. Philosophers, prophets, and seekers have pursued it through reason, revelation, and inner contemplation. Yet truth, by its nature, resists confinement within a single formula, tradition, or creed.

The Hebrew Scriptures declare:

> “God made man upright, but they have sought out many schemes.” (Ecclesiastes 7:29)

The Gospel echoes this in the words of Christ:

> “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” (John 8:32)

And the Qur’an proclaims:

> “And do not mix truth with falsehood or conceal the truth while you know it.” (Al-Baqarah 2:42)

From these converging voices arises a universal testimony: truth is not the possession of one nation or religion; it is the common light of humanity, entrusted to all.

Human nature, in its origin, is pure and upright. The divine intention was not corruption, but goodness:

> “We have certainly created man in the best of stature.” (Al-Tin 95:4)

Yet history shows how easily pride, ignorance, and desire obscure this divine imprint. Thus the responsibility of every individual is self-discipline, purification of the heart, and the pursuit of knowledge that leads not to arrogance but to wisdom.

Difference, then, is not a curse but a test. The Qur’an reminds us:

> “O mankind, indeed We created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of God is the most righteous of you.” (Al-Hujurat 49:13)

True peace in society cannot be built on forced conformity but on recognition, respect, and mutual understanding. To deny difference is to deny creation itself.

The religions of the world, when purified of distortion, converge on this wisdom: that truth liberates, love unites, and humility opens the path to God. Humanity’s task is not to erase difference, but to transform it into harmony—like diverse instruments tuned to one symphony.
